The relationship between the therapist and client is a container that will eventually reflect your patterns out in the world. I am constantly thinking about how to change our relationship to impact your treatment.

Psychoanalysis is integrated in the relational model I offer, its aim is to understand you in its entirety, and help you sort out what might be blocking you unconsciously.
I recommend this twice a week, but can see you once a week.

I typically recommend people with borderline receive treatment twice a week. The first session in my experience with BPD individuals is one of free association- what that means is typically talk therapy.
In the second session, I like to do concrete skills and use Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This is a behavior modality that offers “tools” on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and more.
I genuinely recommend you do therapy twice a week at least if you are struggling with borderline. I will do what I can to make the second session affordable if you need that option.

Existential therapy tackles big questions such as your outlook toward living and death, who you are, if your life has meaning, if you’re satisfied with your relationships.. And of course, existential crises. I use relational therapy blended with existential therapy for those struggling in this regard.

I’ve worked as a vocational counselor, I have been trained in MI (motivational interviewing) and have helped individuals from marginalized backgrounds receive gainful and often unionized employment. If I feel you are ready, we can begin to do more practical work.

I believe couples counseling can get you to a clear goal. My opinion is that too often couples seek counseling beyond the point of repair. It’s important to start counseling when the issues are minor or even major- but when you sense repair is possible and communication is still possible.

I will begin offering this in November after I receive structured training in this modality and ongoing supervision.
ERP can be delivered in a culturally insensitive manner when it does not take an individual’s customs, cultures, or beliefs into account- race, gender, etc.
Fortunately I have trained extensively at a practice that specialized in culturally competent care, and am currently at a practice that also cares about cultural competency in the therapeutic process especially for individuals with obsessive compulsive disorder and hoarding issues.
The purrfect therapy client doesn’t exist….Wait a second….
