The Empire State Building is visible through a concrete arch under a bridge in New York City, with part of the bridge and trees surrounding the scene.

Being accessible is important to me.

I remember what it was like to finally find a match in a therapist and be hit with the disappointment that I could not see them.

Because of this, I offer a standard rate and tiered pricing to accommodate different financial situations, with the understanding that mental health is a valuable investment.

While I cannot provide reduced rates immediately and to anyone that asks, I do consider individual circumstances and may require proof of income to determine sliding scale rates.

Let’s start by locating yourself

The goal is to “locate” yourself- meaning, one of these will resonate with you more than another. You might not have family members that would help you out, but you still might have financial privilege for example. These are not literal checkboxes- they are mental locations of privilege.

$275 -$375.00

I don’t think this applies to me….

The phrase “sliding scale” is a little uncanny to me.

I have great out of network benefits and it would not strain me to pay more.

I have financial privilege.

My living situation is a non-issue, for whatever reasons that are specific to me.

I give back in my regular life.

I desire to pay a higher rate. I know this allows Michele more availability to see clients at the support and solidarity levels.

It feels correct to pay for quality therapy from a provider that has progressive values.

$250

I don’t need to be placed on the sliding scale.

The fee is not an issue.

My out of network insurance benefits are good and I’ll get reimbursed near 50-100%.

$150-$249

I need some assistance

Wouldn’t say I’m “struggling” exactly, however….

Perhaps my rent is disproportionate to my income or mortgage.

I can cover most of my debts fully, but sometimes I can’t.

I have family or friends that could almost always help me out if I was in a financial bind.

I am doing alright financially but can feel the effects of stressors like inflation for example.

$90-$149

I need some support

My job does not pay a lot, but it offers stability.

Or, the cost of living is significantly above my income.

I do not fear losing housing.

I have some support occasionally from friends or family, but it is never guaranteed.

$0-$89

I need help with the fee.

There are complex systemic barriers preventing me from affording therapy

Rent or the mortgage worries me.

I have a lot of imminent debt.

Perhaps I struggle to buy food and take care of myself.

I might be a first generation college student.

First generation is defined as being the first in your family to potentially get or have received a bachelors degree.

I do not have solid and consistent income.
