Therapy for Sexuality and Sexuality Exploration in NYC

How often have you found yourself in therapy where your therapist asks very little about your sex life or more morosely sexual traumatic events? You may even bring up sex as subject independently yourself. Little follow up questions are asked.

While sex is not central to everyone’s life nor sexuality- it can be a critical window into understanding you. You may have really wanted to discuss your masturbation habits, porn usage, thoughts you may not be straight and more with your therapist. It’s important to have a therapist that is comfortable discussing sex with you, providing that it is appropriate and relevant. Perhaps you may have even wanted to discuss a suspicion that you feel that you are asexual, and do not experience little or if any sexual attraction at all. Perhaps you’ve been dying to speak to a therapist to finally breach the subject you want to break up with your partner of many years- or open your marriage. Yet it just has never entered the therapy room.

That is a problem.

Your sex life does not exist in a vacuum. I have found that it often interacts with many other areas of a person’s life- their relationship to others, to eating food, to sadism, and more. You deserve therapy that doesn’t skate the entire hour on the surface.
