Anxiety and Social Anxiety Therapy in NYC
I think about anxiety and social anxiety from the perspective of “avoidance”. Avoidance can have benefits. Perhaps it makes you feel safer, perhaps it exposes you to less risk. Overtime, avoidance can run amuck and keep you isolated, anxious, not taking important risks, not investing, the ramifications are unlimited.
Social anxiety can keep you from socializing, or reduce your potential to form connections. I offer therapy to those that struggle with anxiety and/or social anxiety.
We will assess this together the way you struggle with anxiety in the therapy, and as your treatment goes on the approach becomes refined and tailored to your situation. Some people struggle with a general sense of anxiety but not social- others struggle exclusively with social anxiety. Not everyone suffers with anxiety to the same degree or in the same way.
Everyone also has anxiety to a degree-you might suspect you have more anxiety than normal or that it has become debilitating. If that is the case, please reach out.
